It happened again today. A girl that I felt like I knew. This one came into the parlor, and wasn't alone. I didn't say anything about it, but I wonder whether she noticed my stares. Fenny sure did, though I'm not quite sure why she was giving the woman dirty looks. | | Saturday, April 26th, 2003 | | 8:13 pm |
For a moment today, I thought I saw somebody I knew. A familiar face; no name, just a feeling that I knew the person. She was outside, on the street, didn't come in. I stopped serving the mint icecream midscoop and stared at her as she passed, trying to place her. Fenny gave me a weird look. I'm usually very attentive in my job. Later, she took me aside and told me that I need to get out more and to make friends. I don't mind not having people, though. Why should I make friends when I'm so well off without? The phrasing of that sounds awfully childish, doesn't it. Still, she makes me wonder whether I should have replied to that Gryffindor reunion owl from Parvati. Too late. I wouldn't have had a good time, and anyway, Fenny was ill, so I wouldn't have been able to take the time off. Current Mood: contemplative | | Saturday, April 5th, 2003 | | 4:46 pm |
Today was very amusing. At the parlor, Fenella (Florean's daughter) was serving a customer when her fake nail fell off. She didn't notice, and neither did the customer (at first), and she was only on the first scoop of the cone, so she just dumped on a second and third gob of gooey chill over the conspicuous bright pink nail. I probably should have said something to her, but I wanted to see what would happen when the customer (an unfortunately attractive twentysomething) found the false. She was outside at a table, licking the cone in a surprisingly chaste manner when she came accross the pink spot in the green mounds of her mint icecream. She jumped, threw the treat as far away as she could manage (it landed on another patron's head) and stormed in demanding a refund. Fenella had gone into a back room, so I gave it to her without consulting her. Fenny was surprised to find one of her nails missing a few hours later. I was surprised it took her so long to notice. I didn't think that even she could be that unobservant. Oh well, that's Fenny. Owls were unusually... active, so I stayed late trying to get the Emporium perfect. |
